A Unique proto piece | Made in Finland
These squishy shell pillows are made from larger organic cotton and velour scraps. To create the shape of the pillow, a combination of recycled batting, other scrap fabric pieces, secondhand batting and tiny fabric scrap stuffing are used. The organic cotton and velour scraps are pre-consumer production waste from Finnish sustainable fashion brand MORICO.
All our odd-shaped pillows are stuffed with a variety of yarn and fabric scraps. This is one of the main ways how we keep our textile production completely zero waste. This unfortunately means that these decorative pillows can't be washed in your regular laundry machine, as the outer shell is not removable. If there is any stains or dirt, use some detergent and carefully wipe down the outer surface to clean it.
Both sea shell pillows were constructed in 3 steps. First each front and back side were quilted onto a piece of batting and backing fabric to create the typical shell lines. A small amount of stuffing was added between the quilt lines to accentuate the lines of the shell. Then the by now quite bulky front and back sides were sewn together and finally stuffed once more to give the shell a more bulky and squishy shape. Finally the shells were closed off by hand.
Both the simple grey-ish blush and the pink/white shell are perfect accent pillows for your sofa, arm chair or bed. They not only bring a touch of beach and ocean, but also a very glam vintage look to your home. The shell pillows match very well with our other ocean themed pillows to create a cozy reading corner. Our other matchin pillows are for example the starfish, sea urchin and knot pillow.
MORICO x Wasteless Wonders
Wasteless Wonders is a sustainable home textiles brand, designing and producing handmade goods for your living spaces exclusively from waste materials. These products are created with some of MORICO pre-consumer scraps - cut-offs in the production process of clothes and accessories. The high quality organic cottons, viscose and other fabrics are too precious to waste, so we gave some of the small and weird pieces to Valentina at Wasteless Wonders to create a small collection of unique products with them.
